About Me

Life Long Learner

Teaching is a lifelong learning process of discovering new philosophies and new strategies. My journey involves reflections, inquiries and making connections. Asking questions like: Who am I as a educator?, Where did I come from?, Where am I now? and Where am I going? has shaped my teaching practices.
As an educator, I am committed to innovative teaching that enables students to be responsible, self-motivated, and creative pursuers of knowledge. I aim to create an environment that encourages and inspires curiosity, communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. In our classroom, real world problems are solved and each student believes that they can make a difference in this world.  It is important that my role is one of a facilitator, where I differentiated my instruction so I meet all my students' needs. It is my responsibility to find out what each learner needs to be successful. Students need to be actively engaged in their own education, they need to establish and nurture their own ideas, questions and discoveries.
The goal of education is to cultivate confident and compassionate global citizens. I am a Tribes Teacher who believes in promoting a community of learners. This community assures the healthy development of every child so that each one has the knowledge, skills and resiliency to be successful in a rapidly changing world. Together, we celebrate each other’s success and inspire each other to be the best person that we can be. Every student is successful because they feel included and appreciated by their peers and teachers. Members of our classroom are respected for their different abilities, cultures, gender, interests and dreams.
For myself, teaching provides an opportunity for continual learning, growth and reflection. One of my hopes as an educator is to instill a love of learning in my students, as I share my own passion for learning with them.
